Week One Weigh-In and Challenge

Today started our new life. We started with a weight-in, and yes I was VERY nervous and uncomfortable standing up there with my sports bra on and my weight showing to the world. Once we made it through the weight-in the challenge started. We had to do 500 step-ups and whoever completed them first between Jay and I won.

I completed the challenge first at 16 minutes, but Jay was not that far behind finishing at 20 minutes. He did an amazing job!!

Thank you to all the friends that came out today to participate and motivate us. I hope that you enjoy the video.

Laying the Groundwork


For the last week Jay and I have been preparing for our life style change. For food we have decided to follow the Master Your Metabolism Cookbook by Jillian Michaels. Thus requiring us to clean out our kitchen of all the bad foods and restocking it with the new good foods. You can see the difference in the picture above. Wow, we were eating a lot of junk.


Then we laid out our workout plan. Along with spending 4 to 6 hours a day in the gym we are relying on our Body Buggs to helps us. At the end of the day we will download to see how many calories we consumed verses how many calories we burned.


We both sit here tonight looking at the steps that we will use for our first challenge tomorrow and wonder how it is going to turn out. I guess we will see soon!!! Tomorrow I am hoping I will be excited to post a video of the challenge and the results.

J&L Biggest Loser Event One

Our first J&L Biggest Loser Challenge EVENT will be kicked off
Monday, May 31, 2010.
This event will be at Sarah Nofziger's house at 10:00 A.M.
We are going to be doing 500 step-ups.

J&L Biggest Loser Challenge

Jay and I have decided it is time to make a "life style" change. We have always enjoyed the show The Biggest Loser, and when they came to Portland for a casting call in April, Jay could not pass up the opportunity to try out for the show. Out of 3000 applicants he was in the top 40 finalist from Portland. Sadly, he did not make it on the show, but we have been motivated by just going through the process.

This summer we will be doing our own "Biggest Loser" weight loss challenge. Every week we will have challenges and weight ins. We will be video typing everything (yes including the weight-in, which I am not happy about) posting weekly pictures and updating you with our struggles and successes.

Over the past few weeks we have been planing out our new life. We are taking advantage of having the time off during the summer to get a great jump start. We will be spending many hours in the gym every week, cooking and eating new fun foods, and educating ourselves in healthy lifestyle choices.

Last I would like to tell you why we are doing this blog. ACCOUNTABILITY!!!! The more people we tell the more accountable we will be. We are also looking for any prayers, positive feedback, recipes or advice, because we know that this will not be easy everyday.

So here we go!!!! We will be having our first challenge/weight-in on Monday, May 31st.
